Product Line Director
180s is an innovative performance wear company which creates and markets products that redefine function and style for every lifestyle. It is our goal to bring life-style driven consumer product innovation that is revolutionary in effect.
We are looking for an extremely dynamic Product Line Director who will develop the creative vision for future 180s product offerings that embody the spirit of revolution and innovation. This position needs to be a visionary with a keen business sense.
This role will build on existing ideas and help to develop new ideas based on a combination of industry experience and time spent in the marketplace understanding problems and finding innovative solutions for the broader market. Serve as the internal and external champion of the offering, helping all parties to understand the product positioning, key benefits, and target customer.
Primary Responsibilities include:
Champion Opportunity
- Seek new market opportunities that are true to distinctive 180s competencies - understand the consumer, current and future market trends and new business opportunities.
- Critically evaluate projects to ensure continuity with strategic direction and market positioning.
- Serve as the solution expert by listening to the market and communicating niche opportunity.
- Ability to communicate a compelling vision and the business acumen to add new products profitably while creating exit strategies for slow-moving items.
Build Business Case
- Document market problems and competitive threats (both existing and future customers).
- Conduct market research to specify market requirements for current and future product offerings.
- Research new products, new enhancements and product redesign that align the product offering with the goals of the organization.
- Develop line plans and assortments by Category/Channel.
- Document product profitability and operational metrics.
- Analyze product performance and sales success.
- Price product competitively while maximizing profitability.
- Accountable for style and SKU productivity and for ensuring financial performance.
Develop Launch Plan
- Position the product by defining the target consumer and appropriate channel.
- Develop and champion the marketing requirements.
- Write product briefs and maintain the product family roadmap.
Drive Solution Across Teams
- Work with all departments to execute go-to-market plan.
- Collaborate cross functionally with Production, Design/Development, Sales, and Marketing from vision to execution.
- Be an integral member of the executive management team and contribute to the strategic decision making process of the company.
- External communicator, presenter, and spokesperson for new product offerings and corporate messaging.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s in Marketing, Business or related field.
- 10+ years of solid experience in product management/marketing in a consumer products company.
- Ability to create market appropriate product and translate marketing requirements for product development.
- Demonstrated experience and success in building a brand.
- Superior planning/communication skills, written/verbal presentation, and the ability to present complex information, in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences.
- Ability to independently make things happen and to provide inspiration and leadership to others involved.
- Proven ability to lead by example by being capable of, and willing to get involved in the detail.
- Experience working for a small growing company.
- Strong leadership and problem solving skills.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Travel required.
